DIY: No Sew Blanket Cape

Miss Kris DIY WrapI had to go deep into the #MissKrisTV YouTube archives for this project. As many of us are preparing for the big shift from Winter to Spring (March 20th), we’re preparing our wardrobes and pulling back out those lighter weight outerwear options. A cozy wrap is one of my favorites! It’s perfect for a LA Winter …or a sunny Spring day in some other parts of the country.

Last year I made a fun, no sew blanket Cape video using a different fabric. This season I updated it with a fab houndstooth print I found at my local fabric store. I’m in to all thinks print and black and white right now! Click HERE to watch the video. Hopefully you’re inspired to make one for yourself this year. It’s the perfect way to stay warm and cozy.

Style: Winter White

Miss Kris Winter White OOTD 1Winter white! Now I have to admit that even though I avoid the cold weather at all cost, I do enjoy seeing the Instapics of the freshly fallen white snow that my friends back East post. I don’t envy the 30 degree temps, but the snow sure is pretty. The recent snowfall has inspired one of my favorite looks. Winter whites plus a faux fur plus a fedora is giving me a 70s cold weather vibe that I can totally get behind. What do you think? How do you feel about the Winter white trend?

The Fabulous Adventures Of Miss Kris: Aboard A Fun Ship To Mexico

Carnival + Miss Kris 1

I’m labeling 2015 the year of Miss Kris’ fabulous adventures! I’ve challenged myself to do more exploring in the new year. So when presented the opportunity from Carnival Cruise Lines to spend my New Year’s Eve aboard one of their fabulous ships, how could I say no?! NYE aboard a ship? In the middle of the ocean? What an exciting way to ring in the year of adventure!

A few girlfriends and I boarded the ship on a Monday afternoon, setting sail for Mexico. After a fun day at sea we finally arrived at the first of two ports, Progresso.  We spent a few hours exploring the Mayan ruins and shopping. We later returned to the ship for a night of colorful New Year’s Eve activities. A delicious dinner and lots of dancing, all culminated in a colorful balloon drop at midnight that you’ve just got to see (watch here). My NYE was a blast!

After the most magical of evenings aboard the ship, we docked in Cozumel. Our excursion that day was to a private house with our own little private beache the most perfect and peaceful way to spend the first day of the new year.

YUM!: Flavored Popcorn Recipes

Miss Kris Flavored Popcorn

Award Season is in full swing here in LA. This weekend are the Golden Globes, then we have the SAG Awards and a few other shows leading up to the main event, the Oscars! Because my invite to these award shows always seem to get lost in the mail, I’ll be watching the shows from the comfort of my couch with a big bowl of popcorn! I mean it seems only right to celebrate some of Hollywood’s most glamorous evenings with popcorn, right? For those of you hosting Award Show parties keep in mind that popcorn really is a spectacular party snack. There are so many ways to dress up popcorn and really make it a fancy and delicious treat. Below are a few of my favorite gourmet popcorn recipes:

Parmesan-Rosemary: Toss 16 cups hot popcorn with 1/2 cup grated parmesan, 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary and 2 teaspoons kosher salt.
Truffle: Toss 16 cups hot popcorn with 6 tablespoons melted butter, 1 1/2 tablespoons truffle oil, 1/4 cup grated parmesan, 1 teaspoon kosher salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.
Buttered: Melt 1 stick butter in a small saucepan over low heat, skimming off the foam and solids; drizzle over 16 cups hot popcorn and toss with 2 teaspoons kosher salt.
Three-Cheese: Toss 16 cups hot popcorn with 2 cups shredded cheddar, 1 cup grated parmesan and 1/2 cup grated pecorino; spread on baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F until the cheddar melts, 3 minutes. Season with salt.
Bacon-Chive: Cook 6 slices chopped bacon until crisp; drain on paper towels, reserving the drippings. Drizzle 2 tablespoons each reserved bacon drippings and melted butter over 16 cups hot popcorn. Toss with the bacon, 1/2 cup chopped chives and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne. Season with salt.
Cajun: Melt 4 tablespoons butter with 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (try Tony Chachere- my fave), 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne and 2 chopped scallions; drizzle over 16 cups hot popcorn and toss. Season with salt.
Salt and Vinegar: Combine 1/4 cup malt vinegar and 2 teaspoons kosher salt in a small spray bottle; shake to dissolve the salt. Spray over 16 cups hot popcorn.

BON VOYAGE 2014: Miss Kris’ Guide To Packing + My New Years Travel Plans

I can’t even begin to express how excited I am!! For the first time in a long time I have actual New Years Eve plans. YEA!!! A few girlfriends and I will be hitting the high seas and ringing in the new year on a Carnival cruise.

I love traveling, but I’ve never been a fan of packing. I’m a notorious over packer who always waits until the last minute. Over the years I’ve developed a few helpful tips and tricks to help make the packing process a little easier. Click here to see my tips!

If you’re a note taker and list maker like me, then a checklist is the perfect tool to help you get travel organized. I created this list to help ensure no toothbrush, headphones or phone charger is ever left behind. Lists make my life so much easier!  Below is my travel checklist. Save it, print it out and use it while preparing for your next vacation. It’s a lifesaver!

VIDEO: A Fabulous Friendsgiving

As I’ve mentioned over and over again, Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday of the year. There’s no pomp and circumstance. No fuss. It’s all about getting together with our families, enjoying a little foot and watching a little football. I know, more than anyone else that often times our friends are an extension of our families. Lots of us create our own familial bonds with our friends and hosting a Friendsgiving dinner is the perfect way to gather around those you love and acknowledge their presence in your life.

Blogger  buddy and friend, Kelly Golightly and I hosted a small gathering in my backyard last week for a few friends. The elements to a perfectly decorated Friendsgiving/ Thanksgiving table are easy: tablecloth, fancy dishes, simple decor, good eats, good drinks and friends! And of course you’re invited too! Click here to watch the video.

Miss Kris + Kelly Golightly Friendsgiving 1Our lovely table. Thanks to Dish Wish for providing the fabulous dishes, glasses and flatware. I was dead set on having a black and white striped table cloth (I’m currently obsessed with all things B+W). I scored this fabric at my local hardware store for $18 and made it the star of our party.
