Warm weather is on its way… I promise! I’m dreaming of another warm beach vacation now. As you remember I recently took the NYE trip of a lifetime, a Carnival cruise down to sunny Mexico. I mentioned in my “Guide To Packing” video the importance of packing a scarf. It’s so versatile. You can use it as a sarong, a dress or my personal favorite… a head wrap! I wear them all the time when I’m trying to add a little fabulous to my outfit. Check out this easy how-to video and you’ll be full glam in three easy steps!
Disclosure: This post was created as part of my collaboration with Carnival. As always, all of the opinions, thoughts, and ideas in this post are my own.
I had to go deep into the #MissKrisTV YouTube archives for this project. As many of us are preparing for the big shift from Winter to Spring (March 20th), we’re preparing our wardrobes and pulling back out those lighter weight outerwear options. A cozy wrap is one of my favorites! It’s perfect for a LA Winter …or a sunny Spring day in some other parts of the country.
Last year I made a fun, no sew blanket Cape video using a different fabric. This season I updated it with a fab houndstooth print I found at my local fabric store. I’m in to all thinks print and black and white right now! Click HERE to watch the video. Hopefully you’re inspired to make one for yourself this year. It’s the perfect way to stay warm and cozy.

Winter white! Now I have to admit that even though I avoid the cold weather at all cost, I do enjoy seeing the Instapics of the freshly fallen white snow that my friends back East post. I don’t envy the 30 degree temps, but the snow sure is pretty. The recent snowfall has inspired one of my favorite looks. Winter whites plus a faux fur plus a fedora is giving me a 70s cold weather vibe that I can totally get behind. What do you think? How do you feel about the Winter white trend?

WINTER IS HERE!!! Ok I know it’s in the mid 60s here in LA and those of you that live in other parts of the US are shooting me major sideeye right now, but it’s Winter is here! Shorts, maxi dress, and sandals will no longer cut it. I spent a little quality time over the weekend doing something I rarely do… cleaning and organizing. I prepared by closet for the colder weather. It’s something I do twice a year. Once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Click here to see the full video (don’t forget to subscribe to the channel). If your closet is in need of a Winter make over, here are a few helpful tips:
1. Rotate Your Clothes: Bring the Winter wares to the front and send the Summer clothes to the back.
2. Stuff Your Drawers: Fold up things like shorts, t-shirts and stuff them in your drawers. Out of sight and out of mind. Plus this frees up some space in your closet for you to focus on your fab sweaters!
4. Organize Your Accessories: Winter weather is made for accessorizing. Now is the right time for all those hats, scarves and belts. Here’s a tip from my wardrobe stylist days… use a safety pin to hang your accessories to a hanger. This way you have easy access to each one and know exactly what you own.
5. The Purge: Seriously “The Purge” sounds like the title to a horrible scary movie and if you’ve seen my closet… it is! Now is the perfect time go get inside your closet, see what woks from last season and what doesn’t.
Crossroads Trading Co., one of my favorite places to shop, has a really great “Sell By Mail” program that comes in handy for such a purging occasion. Just go to their website and request a pre-paid shipping bag. They’ll mail one directly to your house. Fill it up with gently used, in season on trend threads and send it back to them. They’ll give you cash for the clothes they purchase or you can opt for a trade credit which allows you to shop their store. For a small fee they’ll what they didn’t purchase back to you or you have the option of donating it to charity. Money for new clothes + do a little good for charity. YES, PLEASE! Thanks Crossroads. The biggest fashion debate of the Summer has got to be the return of the Birkenstock style sandal. Every site from the Man Repeller to Refinery 29 has made a statement about the them. Even the editors at Vogue have joined the convo calling the trend “Pretty Ugly” …pretty ugly, you see what they did there?! OH NO!!!! Not the return of the ‘stock?!?!? This is all taking me back to 7th grade when my Mom REFUSED to purchase a pair for me. A few months earlier I’d just conned her into getting me a new pair of Cole Haan loafers so as far as she was concerned… my feet were already covered! You know how it is when you want something so bad, but don’t have the means to get this!? All of a sudden they’d become the ugliest shoes ever created and I wasn’t sure why anyone would wear them. Oh the shade!!
All those old feeling came back when I saw them featured in the pages of Vogue this year and obviously I was hesitant to accept their return until I came upon these leopard beauties from Seychelles. Hmmmm they don’t look like the ones I remember from Middle School being leopard and all?!? I’m intrigued. I don’t have anything like this in my closet so I just had to give them a try. Needless to say they have become my new go-to casual Summer sandal. As Jenna Lyons states, leopard is a neutral and I’ve been wearing these with everything.
What do you guys think of the return of this trend? Do you remember with the ‘stocks were popular many years ago or am I dating myself here?!? Share in the comment section below. And if you’re interested click here to purchase these cuties. They’re on sale and available in different colors including metallic!
