How To Kiki: Planning The Perfect Girls Night In
Still no plans for New Year’s Eve? I know, me neither! NYE always intimidates me with all the hoopla surrounding the evening and the pressure to kick off the new year in style. Might I suggest skipping the crowds and staying in for the evening? A girls night (or kiki as I loving refer to them) sounds like the perfect NYE plan. Here are 5 fab tips to planning the perfect ladies night, honestly no matter the time of year!
1. Best Buddies: Phone a friend! Set a date, time and location. I called my friend Kelly of Kelly Golightly and told her I was in desperate need of a kiki. She graciously offered up her gorgeous home for our evening of girl talk. The best thing about a kiki is that it takes place in the privacy of a home so invite your guest to dress fashionably, but comfortably. Kelly and I took our wardrobe for the evening to the extreme opting for printed PJ’s and rhinestones!
2. Delicious Snacks + 3. Yummy Drinks: Two and three sort of go hand in hand. Delicious snacks and yummy drinks. Don’t go crazy trying to prepare the perfect meal for your guest. I mean they’re just your best buddies… not the President and First Lady! The purpose of a Kiki is to spend quality time with your friends, but we all know good girl talk is best served over libations and vegatations. Fill a bowl with popcorn, cover a tray with cookies and cakes or try my favorite an easy bake/ no mess, no stress frozen pizza from California Pizza Kitchen. They just release a few new gourmet recipes that are party perfect!!! Also, don’t forget a bottle of wine, champagne or an easy DIY specialty cocktail for the evening plus nonalcoholic beverages and sparking water for your friends that are driving or don’t drink.
4. Good Music + 5. Fab Entertainment: Don’t forget to set the mood. Good background music helps create the perfect Kiki atmosphere. Plus good music is necessary for those unexpected (or totally expected) dance breaks! It also never hurts to prepare a little entertainment. Might I suggest having a super sappy chick flick on hand or a vintage board game (ie: Mall Madness)? Kelly and I opted for a full on photoshoot with my Polaroid. Kelly and I would send the entire evening photoshooting ourselves. No, seriously (here, here and here) #DontJudge
A special thanks to Kelly Golightly’s main man Fred Baby for the pics!
