DIY: Embellished Headband + Goody Hair Accessories Giveaway

Last month my friend Jenni from I Spy DIY was in town to host a DIY party at the Soho House LA. We had such a fantastic time making bold fashion accessories. Her technique for making tribal necklaces gave me the inspiration for embellishing headbands. I think embellished headbands make the perfect gift for that girlie girl on your Holiday list…

Materials: Headbands, Rhinestones, Embroidery Thread, Glue

Glue your rhinestones to your headband. Use a healthy amount of glue. The access glue with help in making sure the thread stays put nicely on the headband.

Dab a small amount of glue on one of the the inside ends of your headband. Start wrapping your thread around the end. The glue will secure it in place.

Continue to wrap your thread around the headband, weaving it in and out of the rhinestones. Should you decide to change colors, simply knot the two threads together. Be sure that the knot is hidden underneath the headband.

Voila!

From far away this headband reminds me of one of my fancy rhinestone covered friendship bracelets. I love this project because it really allows you be be creative. You can pick different colors and come up with your own pattern. It’s a fun gift for the right girl and it’s also lots of fun to make. As of today, I’ve given you 11 new DIY projects that hopefully inspired you to make some fun gifts. And with only one more day left to this gift guide I’d love to know…

Question: Have you gotten/made a gift for everyone on your list?

Have you finished all your shopping? Or do you still have more gifts to get? I’d love to know. Leave your answers below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a collection of hair accessories from Goody! Don’t worry if you don’t win today… there’s always tomorrow! Only one more new DIY project, a one more prize and one more chance to win.

Happy Holidays!

UPDATE: 14 was the randomly selected number!

Congrats Jennifer! You won the Goody Hair accessories!

This year I was “late” finishing up. Usually, I’m done shopping by July, and making gifts by mid-October. I *just* finished up for this year last week, and am now wrapping everything!

I make hats from recycled sweaters, especially cashmere. A few years ago, I made my sis a scarf using several soft sweaters. This year, I’m whipping up a quick baby blanket from thrifted sweaters for my grandson. I’ve also refashioned thrifted sweaters, funky pillowcases and leather jackets into wearables too!

I love this headband – will definitely give this a try! I love to make sparkly jewelry, using gemstones & crystals. I often give my handmade pieces as gifts to friends and family. My daughter & I wear my practice pieces. Here are more of my pieces: http://www.myjewelryshop.etsy.com Thanks for looking!
